The Department of Public Works as one of South African’s ministry governments doesn’t only aim to increase the living qualities of the rest of South African government workers through providing them proper accommodations and properties. Rather, the Department of Public Works also commits to efficiently manage South African’s immovable assets’ life cycle through the Department of Public Works’ custodianship.

The Department of Public Works’ Internship Programme’s Schemes and Requirements
As with the Department of Public Works itself, the Department of Public Works’ internship programme is based on the equal opportunity and affirmative action bases.

According to these bases, applicants who are disabled, previously disadvantaged, or hold on any special conditions based on Section 15 and 20 of the Employment Equity Act in 1998, are strongly encouraged to apply for the Department of Public Works’ internship programme to help the Department of Public Works promote representativity.

Interns in the Department of Public Works’ 12-month internship programme will be placed in one of the Department of Public Works’ centre. Additionally, they will also receive a monthly stipend of R5,353.75.

To be able to apply for the Department of Public Works’ internship programme, applicants should satisfy these following requirements:

  • Be South African people who are between 18 until 35 years old
  • Complete 3-year tertiary education from any recognised and accredited institutions in these below-mentioned fields:
    • MCSE 2003, A+, or N+
    • Equivalent IT qualifications with A+, N+, and MCSE courses
    • Any other qualifications as deemed relevant by the Department of Public Works
  • Don’t participate in other Public Service-based internship programmes before their applications for the Department of Public Works’ internship programme.

Applicants who have satisfied the aforementioned criteria and want to apply for the Department of Public Works’ internship programme can see the most recent Circular publication online or offline to seek the most suitable internship positions for them. Additionally, they will also be required to complete Form Z83 along with attaching their comprehensive CV and certified copies of their ID cards and most recent educational and professional qualifications.

After completing their internship application packages, applicants should specify the preferred centre’s reference number. Since there can only be one reference number per applicant, applicants should only send one application package to one centre of the Department of Public Works.
